Windsor’s new VIA Station (just opened) is actually in Walkerville……about 3KM NE of downtown.

It has fairly good Transit service on the Crosstown #2……every 15 min weekdays…..less on Sat/Sun and you can connect from the Tunnel Bus which loops through downtown Detroit.
The new station is adjacent to the one built by CN in the ’60s when the downtown station along the waterfront was closed. At one time, passenger trains were even ferried from the old station across the river to the GTW Station in downtown Detroit.
Windsor’s new station was one of the last to be replaced in the corridor which led to speculation that VIA was waiting to see if anything materialized on a crossborder VIA/Amtrak route through Detroit to Chicago. If this had happened, it would have required a new passenger route west of Chatham to be properly aligned for the Tunnel. To reach the Tunnel now from the new VIA Station would be a time consuming move over industrial trackage.
