My video's from the weekend. Sundays Amtrak run see's the introduction of the DueceCam. This new technology allows me to shoot the same train from to different locations. Although not perfected it does show promise

Got a rare treat today and caught a rolling meet of Trains 19 and 20 at CP Coaling on the AGS South. 19 was blowing the crossing at Lower Coaling Road and Train 20 was blowing the crossing at Grimes Crossing Road. It was cool to say the least. If I would have arrived a few minutes sooner I would have been able to get the power face to face. Timing, timing, timing. Anyway enjoy the video of something that doesn't happen that often.

Rode up to Birmingham Thursday morning. Using nothing but line of sight and dead reckoning I was able to catch a train at Coaling, Vance and Woodstock. The train at Woodstock was an unusual one as it was a single unit with empty GTTX flats. While waiting in Birmingham on Train 19 to depart a Herzog ballast train train came up. Took off after Train 19 to catch it meeting Train 20 but my effort was thwarted by the Interstate being closed for paving. Decided to head for Woodstock and get 20 there.
Later that evening I managed to catch A56 at Cottondale while going to get a pizza.
Friday saw Train 20 waiting on the main for 19 to get in hole at Bryant. After backing out, Train 19 carried on. Great horn work by both crews.
Today I missed 20 but 19 is ruuning late so I will get it. So far I captured what is probably 393 this morning and just now what is probably 345. Those will be posted later.

This story is a bit late but needs to be told

Sunday saw NS 225 at MP 195 with a "Restricted Approach" signal. That was odd but I thought nothing more of it as there was probably work going on down in Tuscaloosa. The next trains should have been Amtrak. Train 19 came but had a "Stop" signal. Odd. Train 20 was late and getting later. I went home and decided to wait by the radio and listen for 20 to arrive. what I heard was A55 was stalled soth of Tuscaloosa and the power from NS 225 was about to cut off and go
help out. I got my camera and climbed on my trust chasing steed and took off. When I arrived at the depot the power from NS 225 had cut off and was down by the ABS interlocking. Not wanting to get in the way (some crews are camera shy) I stayed at the depot to wait for the power to return. Afetr about 30 minutes or so they came back and coupled up. After another short delay they were gone. Thinking 19 would come by next I stayed at the depot. That wasn't going to be
the case. I went to 10th Avenue and found Big Mo and Train 19 in the hole. He informed me that two northbounders and Train 20 would come by before they could leave Bryant. And that's how Train 19 and 20 meet at the same place two and a half hours late.

Collected enough clips to put a video together. Mostly around MP 195. Nothing really notable except for the freshly painted first generation Dash 9's

Got word that Train 19 had Heritage Unit 145 on the point. Went out to Coaling to catch 19 and 20 meeting. Found 19 tucked in behind a sotuh bound train at CP Coaling. Much to my suprise Big Mo was at at the helm of the Heritage Unit. We chatted as we waited for Train 20 to makes its appearance. Train 20 took its sweet time getting to us and let me tell you it is getting hot standing line side. As we were about to take cover in the shade his Conductor informed us that 20 was at AGS South MP 189. We stuck it out and 20 showed up shortly. Got the meet and some great photo's and video of what Big Mo does best. I then decided to race 19 to Tuscaloosa and got the last video of Train 19 with Heritage Unit 145 at CP Tuscaloosa. As an added extra bonus there is footage from the now patened and highly sought after "DueceCam". Enjoy and thanks for watching!

Unfortunately I missed out on the nose to nose meeting of the Heritage Units yesterday. I did manage to catch The Crescents meeting today but once again misfortune struck and 184 was trailing on Train 20. I was rewarded with an epic horn battle as both trains struggled for supremacy as they crossed 10th Avenue. Nice work by both crews but I believe 20 won but you be the judge.

Got word that AMTK 184 went through Tuscaloosa on Train 19 yesterday and I missed it. Knowing how they turn the train and power
in MSY (Thanks Mo)I guessed right that 184 would be on the point of Train 20. Got it as it climbed the hill through the once storm raveged Alberta City and crossed 19th Avenue.
Next up would be Train 19 which at that time was running four hours late but would turn out to be more than five. Suspecting once again that Train 19 might have a NS unit on the point I waited for its arrival at MP 195. I forgot how fast the trains come down at of Birmingham on the AGS South and barely caught Train 19 with NS 8731 leading the way into Tuscaloosa as it crossed 26th Avenue.
This week has reminded me of the late 60's when it was common to see freight power bringing the passenger trains home!

19 was in the hole and easing up to Grimes Crossing Road to wait on Train 20. Not a long wait as Train 20 rounded the curve and made for CP Fleming and disapered for points north. Train 19 wasted no time in getting out of the hole with some great horn work by the crew as they made tracks for Tuscaloosa

I haven't seen the Crescents meet in quite awhile so I decided to head out to Coaling to see if I could get lucky. And lady luck reared her pretty head. Train 19 was just coming to a stop in the hole and much to my suprise it powered by only Heritage Unit 145! That's right, a single motor and it was a Heritage Unit. What are the odds of that? If you don't believe me watch the video.I even fired up the DueceCam for this rarity.
I also got 172, 219, 22R, A suprise catch as a NS special Seimens Train blast up the hill at MP 195 and then an even numbered train with mucho power conquers the hill. Not a bad day on the AGS South

The last of the weekends video. This particuliar video was shot with a combination of my new Canon T3 and JVC Everio. The verdict is still out on the T3. I suppose I need to learn to use it before discarding it.
