I remember seeing a picture of a P40DC (Phase IV)pulling VRE kawasakis near what looked like L'Enfant Plaza? Did VRE ever actually lease a P40DC or am I seeing things? Also did MARC ever lease a P40DC? I'm just wondering because other east coast commuter railroads are using them.

I am 99% sure neither MARC nor VRE have never leased the P40, or any other Genesis engine. Maybe the train you saw was a long-distance Amtrak train (probably a Silver Service) pulling Viewliners?

I definitely think it would be a good idea for MARC to lease P40s, similarly to what NJT has recently done, but that is unlikely since they are purchasing more than enough brand new locomotives.

VRE leased Amtrak P40 830 for a short time.

Seriously? When did they lease it, and how long did they lease it for?

Thanks for the correction.

830 was leased to VRE Virginia between late 2003 and early 2004.
