Saw a piece on National Geographic TV about GCT.

They showed the siding under The Waldorf.

I've known about the siding for years.

If FDR came up from DC, as he did almost weekly, he would have come in on The Pennsy.

I mean a train can't get to GCT from DC.

Not easily anyway.

How did his car get to GCT?

I figure someone on here knows.

Thanks.

It is still used if the president has to get out of the city in a hurry!

Take a look here: www.trainweb.org/ct/mnpenn.htm.

In the overview paragraph there is mention of the connection. It seems that there was a round-about connection from DC, into Penn (or close to it), over to NYC tracks and then into GCT. Interesting stuff.

Don't know why the link doesn't work, type it in.

I would also think it was used more if he took the train in from his residence at Hyde Park, NY. This was of course New York Central Territory.
