Well, as most know, I made the trek north for the annual Marathon maple festival and the trains that the NYS&W operates in conjunction with the two day affair. I took the opportunity to check out the Northern Division, and in particular, the SY-1. here are some of those images. Enjoy:
First off, we start with conductor Ben Martin getting his job briefing(or doing some wheeling and dealing?) before begining the days duties:

(note the air of confidence around him!)
Next, at Amory Square, in syracuse, the 116 is seen sitting waiting for its next assignment:

Next, the 1804 is seen with a small cut of cars:

Next, the 2012 is shown pulling loads out of Roth Steel, adjacent to the CSX main and under the I-690 bridge in the background:

The other half of the class act that makes up the SY-1 crew, engineer Matt Gibbons:

Next, while drilling cars near CP-293, Amtrak puts in an appearance. the dwarf signal is on the connector to the Chicago line:

In binghamton on sunday, one of the "beasts" was spotted, later used on a BH yard job:

As for the Marathon trains themselves, here's a few images of those:
First, the north end of the Marathon-Cortland shuttle at Marathon:

Next, NYS&W VP/General Mgr of the Northern Div joe White and Conductor Mike Flannery assess the situation:

next, BH-2 cond. Norm Mc Sweyn protects the shove as the Binghamton bound train backs into the Marathon station for boarding:

next, the south end of the Binghamton-Marathon train had the 3042 on this year:

And finally, the 2012 is seen on the south end of the Syracuse-Cortland-Marathon train:

thats it for now. there were other images, but would be considered too off topic (and in questionable taste!) My thanks to The NYS&W management and crews who were so generoous to myself and everyone with their time and talents. hope you enjoyed what I posted.

I know I'm getting old... My insurance company sent me only half a calendar this year!
