Would you recommend trying to get on.I applied with UP but didn't here anything is there a trick to get on?Also I heard that getting furloughed is common for the first few years is this true.And what railroads service the west thats where I'm looking.Thanks

Depends where you hire-out. Some areas have had so many people retire and others go to engineer school that so many things have opened-up allowing guys with only 6 months on the railroad owning regular assignments. :wink:
