Otto, this is what I have always found about the broad spectrum of "RAILFANNING": simply an opportunity to broaden horizons of the hobby, find those thin threads that weave our history and geography together thus making it more interesting. Too often there is a parochialism or provincialism in our hobby when in reality we should be looking for how it all is interwoven both as a railroad system and as a society. Articles like this do that.

Thanks for posting. I second the opinion about "thinking outside the box" and viewing the railroad as part of a greater american history rather than obsessing about what model horn was installed on a locomotive during its rebuild.
