Have run across a slide I took on 4/5/75 in the Chicago area of a row of brand new turbine-electric cars with the light/dark blue "M" logo with "Metropolitan" underneath and the logos for the "Department of Transportation" and "Urban Mass Transportation Administration - UMTA." The lead unit is numbered 4004. History of these cars would be appreciated.

Man- we should make this gas-turbine question a sticky! :-) comes up often enough, eh?

KP: Good shot! Those were the Garrett cars 4001-4004. The GE cars were 4005-4008. Were they being tested around Chicago? The USDOT was a sponsor also-note logo on front door. OTTO: A sticky combining all posted Turbo info is a good idea! MACTRAXX
