On the NYAR Forum seems that CSX (prob the worst rr in the country as far as maintenance) has a Loram undercutter. Why doesn't the LIRR have one of these? or is another dept that probably has the equipment but few qualified indiviuals to run them?

CSX does not own a LORAM undercutter they rent it just like LIRR , MNCR or others do.
LORAM is a company that contract undercutting , ballast cleaning and rail grinding.

The same machine that is on the Hell Gate this week, there is another one on the LIRR at Queens Village team for the past 2 weeks.
