This is probably trying to look too far back in history, BUT, I remember the husband of one of my mother's closest friends, Les Dettling worked for the LIRR at the Morris Park Shops. I also, seem to recall reading somewhere he made a "grande faux pas" when he inadvertantly fueled on of the roads first diesels with water.

Does any one remember him, and what can you tell me about the shops in the '40's and '50's.

Appreciate your reminiscences.

Best regards,
Rodger

Besides info on the employee in question, specifically what do you wish to know about the shops in the 40s and 50s?
