Just got my copy of the May issue of Trains, and an evolution of Chicago's commuter rail map is displayed, comparing today's service levels to that which existed in 1950. Both maps show the downtown terminals, while the 1950 map includes intercity trains that offered commutation fares between certain points in commuter territory. I simply cannot imagine just how busy Mayfair, Deval, and 21st Street among others must have been in the good ole days...
