Union Pacific had a yard sale a few years ago to rid themselves of excess locomotives, but are any of the big railroads going to have a yard sale in the future? BNSF, NS, CSXT, and UP all have lines of dead or stored locomotives.

That BNSF switcher first in line does not appear to have the stacks covered - not a good sign as snow and rain can get right down into the diesel. At the least it can cause rust, in worse cases it can freeze and break things. I'd say they don't expect those units to run again.

So that's were all the extra MU cables have gone! To storage instead of on-line.

someone should call nysw and tell them about all this available power probably for dirt cheap.
