The photo edit is great. I’d like to see one showing the East leg of the wye for the hell of it before Nassau tower is gone.
But for historical purposes, the Hempstead branch ran to the west of the substation. Whereas the trajectory in the edit shows it north and heading through the sub.
Just wanted to set the scene correctly before someone one days argues it, as it will be almost in traceable in the next few months.
As many of you regular LIRR History buffs know, the branch was traceable till about 2019 when they trimmed the trees and removed the tie retaining wall.
Now let’s see that art work showing the East leg!

For the hell of it, it’s not the first time the train went “through” Nassau, for you preserve Nassau guys, why not raise the tower and build the train under it!
