I think most here who follow passenger train affairs know that David P. Morgan penned, and which appeared in April '59 TRAINS, the most comprehensive unbiased view of "what went wrong" and more important "what can we do about it".
He presented a plan for the Albany NY station that was essentially adopted by the NYC.. He suggested an Amtrak like entity, although free from government intervention.
