I collect old LIRR timetables and recently acquired an ett from 1902. Previous to getting this, my oldest LIRR ett was 1929. I can’t believe the difference in information in the timetables between those years. The 1902 ett shows second and third class trains in addition to the first class trains. It also shows scheduled freights! The freights ran Mondays thru Satudays as follows: Mainline 4 EB & WB, Montauk Division 6 EB & WB, Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, Manhattan Beach and Rockaway Beach Divisions/Branches 1 EB & 1 WB each. No freights on Sundays. The “Runs & Instructions to Trainmen” section of the ETT also shows six Extra freights. I’m guessing this is in addition to the true extras that ran to customer demand or seasonal requirements. Good stuff.
