Interesting Consist Discussion for the North Side

Someone I know just reported they saw 010 and an unknown HSP46 double-heading on a consist on the Lowell Line.

Last report was for Monday 3/30:

Coach 349/348/366
Bus: 794/794/799

So the MBTA has only 349 'in service' commuter rail coaches vs. peak need of 366. So short sets on north side are understandable (I'm not defending them!)

I cant believe im saying this.. But as much of turd piles as they are.. the Rotem order was at least 25 cars too short.

There was an option for 75 more. The MBTA did not pick up the option. So what we got, we got.

saw the third 4 car set today. Another Geep-R-3 flat set.

HSP46 2032 is double-heading a set with the 1006 as the trailing unit.

I saw that set on Saturday, but could not get any numbers.

The 1641 is the control car on that consist in case anyone wants to track it.

Back to running with 1006 solo as of this afternoon.

2023 and 1055 have been doubleheading for a few days now, paired with control car 1822.

2029 and 1013 are running together, paired with control car 1642.

I understand there was a 3R+2F set on the north side this morning.

There's a LORAM grinder on the siding just north of Wilmington Station this afternoon. Anyone know where it has been working?

Also, when on main track, is it a "train", a "track car", or equipment which needs to be accompanied by track car?

There is a double-header again. F40PH-2C #1072 is leading GP40MC #1125, with a five car single level set behind them
