Passed over the shops on the Bedford Park overpass. The R110A set was sitting in the yard. It looks to be in great shape, clean, ect. Any news on whether it will return to revenue service?

Never. The R110A/R130 and R110B/R131 were proto-type technology test trains, they were never ment to have a long term operational life. I should also point out that what you saw was the IND Concourse yard. Jerome Ave Yard is further north, under the Tracy Towers complex.

Are there any pics of this?

Seems like it's a perfectly good train. Why not place it in revenue service? I understand that it was built as a prototype, but why not use it anyway? Some limitations?

Also, this shop was actually quite full of newer IRT equiptment.

Concourse doubles as an overflow facilty for Jerome, Jerome cars come thier for thier baths often.

The R110s (techincly really the R130 and R131) were ment for short usage. It's not a perfectly good train at all, it has a list of things wrong with it.

Prototypes cars usually have a more limited life than other cars. The 1949 R11 lasted in limited service until the mid 1970s.

...and they were mostly confined to the Franklin shuttle.
