Myself and another HO-scale modeler are putting together a list (and will commence buying) what we need to scratchbuild four CTA 1-50 series cars (based on these car sides: http://unionstationproducts.com/_1_50.html. Two cars each, so we'll have a set of four. I've already decided that painting one of mine into the "Spirit of Chicago" paint scheme will be in order, however both of us are probably going to wind up with at least one car in croydon cream, mercury green, and swamp holly orange paint (http://www.chicago-l.org/trains/gallery ... /cta28.jpg). While the aluminum & black of the former paint scheme is relatively easy to replicate using common modeling colors, we're less sure about the latter, due to the variety of colors out there which might fit the bill. Anyone out there already figured these colors out?

Might want to peruse the First & Fastest archives, there's a few CTA modelers out there.

Hey byte Id like to see some pics if you ever get around to finishing those scratch built kits, I love the old "Green limo" CTA cars. If your ever looking for something more current there is a company that does CTA's 2600 series cars might be worth a look if your setting up a CTA layout.

heres what they look like...
