Just some information..went to the northern branch CLC meeting and asked about the cross county line. It is happening. The reason why things are so quiet with advancements is because this is a state project not a federal one. Apparently there are different rules/regulations to follow. this is moving along and we should see some of these advancements within a short amount of time

It's too bad they're not using heavy rail on it. If NJT built a connection from the Midtown Direct tracks to the NYSW tracks at Undercliff Junction near Tonnelle Avenue, then regular trains could run from there and link up with both the PVL and Bergen Co. lines.

Went to the meeting, too. I was the youngish looking guy with the red beard and maroon shirt.

The NYSW service is suppossed to be with FRA compliant DMUs, which are technically heavy rail, in that they can run in mixed traffic. That said, any connection between the Corridor and the NYSW (or Northern Branch and West Shore, for that matter) would be very difficult. The Corridor enters the North River Tunnels just a (very) few feet after crossing over them. And the difficulty in elevation is notable, as double stacks run below.

And there's no connection (anymore) between the NYSW and the PVL.

The NYSW Cross-County will be FRA Heavy Rail compliant. NJT Rail crews will operate the service. Personally Id rather see the money used to expand the NYSW west from Hawthorne to Sparta or Warwick, but we already have a thread on that subject.

Anyone have a list of the stations for the proposed route, I don't get why no connections to the Bergen or Pascack Valley Line. If / when they build the West Shore line the Cross County line could connect the Main, Bergen, Pascack Valley and West Shore lines.

Paterson is getting I think like 3 stations, hawthorne, saddle brook? hackensack. There is no place to build a transfer for the PVL unless you claim eminant domain and knock all those houses down around the trestle over the pvl. Now the bcl would make a decent transfer or park and ride with 80 beeing right there.

Looks like nothing but trees on either side of the Cross County there.
