While sitting at Church Avenue Crossing on the R3 in Morton.....I saw an inbound and outbound pass each other BOTH with three types of Silverliners in their trains.......rare (for me at least) to see one of these let alone two at the same time!

Recently I saw a similar train. I can't remember ever seeing a train of mixed equipment. Does anyone know what is Septa's practice in regards to mixing equipment? Are they doing this just in case of a breakdown in one of the older Silverliners?
