Train crews start their day in any one of a number of terminals, such as Hempstead, Long Beach, Port Jefferson, New York, Brooklyn, Far Rockaway or Jamaica. There is a list of what trains each crew runs and the terminal where they start and end each day. It also lists the report (start) time on each job. This is called the Run Sheet or Crew Book. Crews select their jobs based on their seniority. If you have more time than Joe, you can pick first. Joe picks after you. The employee with the most seniority (called the oldest) can choose any job from the book. There are also Extra Crews that cover assignments on the regular crews' days off, or Relief Days.
