As you all know, the Friends of (Long Island RR) Locomotive #35 Inc. is in the process of restoring the Ex-New Haven ALCO cab unit from the 1964 Worlds Fair. We have come a long way on this piece and are now doing the final work on the interior.
Unfortunately, we recently realized that someone stole the brake stand from the cab which had been stored for the past two years on the loading dock in Mitchel Field, adjacent to the cab. This piece is essential to the project and without it, there is no brake stand. It is worthless to anyone else, except maybe a collector. It is extremely heavy and rather awkward.
If anyone knows who might have taken this piece, please advise them that we are not interested in who they are or why they took it. We only want it returned ASAP. We would also appreciate if you would pass this information along to anyone you may know as well as any websites that might be up to this topic.
