Framingham/Worcester P523 (the 5:00 Worcester Express) was running a few minutes behind schedule today (12/28) with two crew members (plus engineer) on board. We started on time but lost time at station stops since all the passengers were being funneled through two sets of doors. I talked to the assistant conductor and he said the regular crew couldn't make it on time due to the snow.

I wonder if the T could rent a Type 3 plow from Seashore!

As was mentioned, the air intakes on the PCC's take in snowflakes and cause the circuits inside to short out, or something along those lines.

This is a 3 page thread. It's moisture getting into the motors make the cars die. As said below...

AND for renting a Type 3. It has been done. One Type 3 had returned a few winters ago. We no longer maintain a Type 3 plow with a pantograph, so you will more than likely never see one return.

Doesn't matter for the High Speed Line. ;)

Couldn't the motor blowers be configured to draw interior, snow-free, air?
