At Escondido, CA, at the east end of the Sprinter LRT station, where a single track continues into a small yard for the freight service which is operated after the Sprinter has shut down, there is a reversible derail consisting of two normal point derails facing each other in such a way that when the derail is open during passenger hours any movement in either direction will derail. Has anybody seen or heard of a bi-directional derail anywhere else?
