In 1871 Henry Ashton invented the first successful safety valve for boilers. It was a tremendous help in preventing boiler explosions, a serious problem in the 1800's. For over 100 years, the company produced safety valves for locomotive, marine, and stationary boilers. Attached are a few pictures of the valve and it's history.
