I did not realize you could BidUp to a sleeping compartment... What has everyone's experience been? The one time I tried to upgrade through this was on the Maple Leaf, and I was unsuccessful getting Business Class, which was really not all that important to me anyway.

I upgraded my Amtrak seat to a 23-square-foot roomette for just $110. Here's what my 15-hour train ride was like.

But on this trip, I decided to try to upgrade my ticket. Amtrak uses a bidding process called BidUp, and my $110 offer successfully bumped me from coach to a private roomette that measured about 23 square feet.

I knew one could, but I don't think I'd want to take the risk. Honestly, if I want a sleeper, I want it!

That said, OMG, that food presentation looks HORRIBLE!
And I see Amtrak still bans coach passengers from the diner. Yet another reason I'm less likely to take the LSL at this time.
