Dear Railfan Community,

Within approximately the last three weeks, someone or a group of people came to the restored B&O station in Silver Spring and removed one of the circular signal heads off the decommissioned B&O Global Positioning Signals, which were located next to the station. These signals, donated by CSXT, are the property of the Silver Spring Historical Society!

We believe that the person or persons who took the signals is/are familiar with signal equipment and had probably seen the signals before because removing the signals required powerful tools and planning. Accordingly, we are asking the railfan community (of which one of the authors of this message considers himself) to be on the look out for B&O circular signal heads, which might show up on Ebay or at railroadiana shows. As for a physical description of the signals, they are a B&O design. All of the lenses are in tact.

We do recognize that the party who took the signal heads might have thought that CSXT was getting rid of the signals and that they did not belong to anyone. Under this assumption, we would appreciate that the person(s) who took the signals drop them off at the Silver Spring Station. No questions will be asked. If you suspect anything and/or would like more information about the missing signals, please feel free to get in touch with Walter Conklin at walterc _ 10490 @ yahoo.com. Sincerely,
