I rode from Willimantic to Pomfret a couple years ago and from Pomfret to Putnam and Putnam to Thompson last year. It is such a great trail and is a lot more quiet than the section west/southwest of Willimantic. The section from Pomfret to Putnam was a little rugged in spots, but with nice rebuilt bridges. At the Putnam end where the pedestrian bridge is built on top of the piers of the old railroad bridge, there is a steep pathway down to the bridge level.

Outside of the break in the trail in Putnam, you can ride the Air Line out to Route 146 in Mass, then once you get around that break, you can go all the way to active track again in Franklin, MA.
