I'm not sure, but there's a place you could buy it online, and the "new" version was called something like "20th Century", or something like that.

The font had no name, Luther. Many railroad logos were hand-lettered and painted... and were often unique creations that were not created from available typefaces. Railroads merely had lettering diagrams that were prepared to letter various pieces of equipment, from boxcars to dining cars to locomotives, etc.

However, if you want to replicate the gothic lettering New York Central used, check out Benn Coifmann's Railfonts site and purchase a copy of "Grand Central." It's less than $10.
