The Portsmouth Herald published a fascinating account of a train wreck that happened in Wells, Maine in 1882.

Almost identical to the Bussey Bridge Wreck five years later- also on one of Hewins' "Metropolitan Bridge Company" death traps. Why Hewins was not charged with multiple counts of Manslaughter in both states, I'll never know.

It was inside what is now the Arnold Arboretum, Roslindale accross South Street about 50-75 feet west of where the replacement Bussey Bridge sits now (just about where my truck is parked in the photo). Coming in from Washington Street inbound, take a left on Archdale Rd. to the end. You'll see the bridge as you enter the Arboretum.
