BIDDEFORD, MAINE - An Arundel man escaped certain injury and possible death Sunday afternoon when he struggled to free his trapped all-terrain vehicle from railroad tracks in front of an oncoming train.

The man dashed away moments before an Amtrak Downeaster split his vehicle in two. He then left the crash scene, prompting searchers to look for him, dead or alive, investigators said.

I just can not stop laughing after reading this line....
"(The train) must have hit it pretty hard to break it in half like that," Brown said, looking at the wreckage.
