The last run of the H series subway cars in Toronto will, it appears, be tomorrow (Friday 20 June 2014).

The 1975-built H4s (Bloor-Danforth) and 1979-built H5s (Yonge-University) have already gone, and T1 series cars have been transferring to Bloor-Danforth for some time (displaced by incoming TR series trainsets for the Yonge-University Line) to permit retirement of the last 1989-built H6s.

EDIT: confirmed by the TTC's communications guy: https://twitter.com/bradTTC/status/479296137791569921" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can't say I was sorry to see the H4s go - it was like a steam bath in a Toronto July. Some of the H5s are going to Nigeria but not as many as it seemed originally.

Two H-5s were bought by a film company in Toronto and there's some H-4 and even some remaining H-1 work cars on the system. There are also other H-4s in storage in passenger configuration and apparently two H-6s left on the property.

Given how tight the TTC is on storage space, maybe the thinking is that the H4s will replace the older work cars (or be additional ones given the system is about to expand north of Downsview, and maybe east of Kennedy in a decade).

Incidentally in TTC news, there is speculation that CP Obico yard, which is being disposed of and is just beyond (but the other side of CP Galt Sub to) TTC Kipling might be acquired as a storage yard.
