I was really angered to learn I can only use my TTC day pass at manned stations.

That shouldn't be a big problem. All TTC subway stations have staffed entrances to sell passes or tokens and collect cash fares, paper tickets, and transfers.

It's by no means a scam.

Being from north of Toronto, I've bought TTC daypasses on numerous occasions, and I admit, it would be a lot more easier if you could swipe your pass at a turnstyle for Metropass/token only like in many U.S. cities.

Oh yeah, and at least one of these ticket takers cleared $100,000 in pay last year. Only in Toronto...
