I drove by the Cobble Hill area in Somerville yesterday and saw an old Sperry Rail Car at the end of the track. Does anyone know what the MBCR plans to do with the car?
Thanks

That's not an "old" car. It's an in-service car. It's being used to inspect the rails, under contract. It hangs out at Cobble Hill when not in use, such as during rush hours.

They will soon be referred to as "old" due to the fact that they are on the way out soon. Sperry is getting smart and now has a few new trucks with hi-rail equipment and all the normal geometry equipment that the Sperry cars have for research. :(

It's been here since it finished testing the T Commuter lines this Spring.
We are just storing it for SRS for now. I think with the advent of the newer SRS HyRail trucks, these cars are going to see less and less use.
This is the longest period of time I have ever seen an SRS car stored on our property.
