Maybe the end of Rotterdam Jct as an active interchange?
Agreed, this is their only chance to expand their East Coast/I-95 corridor 400 miles to the North (more like 600 miles if you consider MNR access as far North as Madawaska) and at the same time to completely outflank the NS both in the Northeast and Southeast.
That is a real tough spot to increase vertical clearances as they will either need to spend a crap load of money redesigning and raising the elevated 495 on/off-ramps, if that is even possible, or they have to undercut, where there is an existing road grade crossing just to the East and a bridge ove...
NS has already committed to making the clearance improvements in the Worcester tunnel, pretty sure that was in the filing. Otherwise, there would be nothing to gain by running on the B&A. A bigger issue is the previously mentioned I-495 off-ramp up in in the Lawrence/North Andover area, where th...
I highly doubt that CSX would ever run an Intermodal service from Maine via the SLR/CN. If they do anything it will be a single stack Portland or Waterville product via Worcester. Clearing the line for DS service through places like Lowell and Lawrence would be very costly, especially at one of the ...
When all is said and done, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if CP loses half of its' current manifest traffic to CSX. In addition to the fact that so much of that business is simply going to end up being a CSX local move, the other problem that CP faces is that it doesn't have anywhere near the same ca...
Guessing that CSX will definitely be going hard after anything and everything in and out of Northern Maine and NB.
There's definitely an imbalance with much more loaded traffic heading West, but there still is some decent traffic moving in the other direction. On the MNR side, there is LPG, fertilizer, cooking oils and inbound clay/fillers for Twin Rivers at Madawaska , while on the NBSR side, there's all the pu...
On one hand, CP is going to be competing with CSX on that MNR traffic, but on the other hand, if it's going to or from a CSX point, CP is totally out of the picture regardless, so I guess in that latter case they may still be willing to offer the haulage service, though unlikely. I also thought I he...
Agreed, I don't see CP and CSX working together in any way shape or form up in Maine and in fact expect just the opposite, as they will both be fighting tooth and nail over much of the same Irving road traffic, with CSX having a big upper hand.
Where do the Eastbound centerbeams loaded with Certainteed product go to in NB? I don't believe they have a direct rail served facility anymore since the McAdam plant closed. Is it transload business I'm assuming? Thanks.
I was under the impression that CP wants to cancel that haulage agreement, especially since they're going after the same business. I don't think the haulage rates are very good either. I do think there's likely going to be quite a bit of business from the county moving over CSX, so will be interesti...
I wonder if CSX has any plans for rebuilding or redesigning the Mattawamkeag yard/interchange. With traffic almost certainly going to increase significantly through that interchange, does the present set-up work, especially since there's traffic going both West to MNR points as well as East to NBSR ...
Is this info posted anywhere? Doesn't seem to be on the NS website.
The only way Bucksport ever gets one iota of attention from CSX in terms of being a viable port option, would be if they discover another Powder River Basin type coal field say on the line up to Keag and even then it would be highly unlikely. Pretty much the same with Searsport. They have less than ...
