The pocket track will be used to turn MTDs that terminate in Summit before reversing to go back to NYP. Today those trains sit on track 1 west of the station until they are scheduled to head back eastbound effectively blocking trains heading to Dover. Do the 300 series Summit locals out of HOB do t...

Don't have exact answers but an example... Train 6616 the MTD train from Dover arrives at NYP at 8:26. I believe it goes back out at 8:50 as 6617. And best I can recall, any train I've ever been on that doesn't stop on tracks 1-4 always has an announcement that it's going to the yard. (That's with r...

Yes, NJT uses both the lighted signs and the automated voice to announce the stations on their Multi-levels. The train # is also posted.

How many poeple hang around charging smartphones in Penn at 110v outlets? If there are power outlets where the new seating area is,people will flock to them. Just last week I walked through the upper area looking for an outlet -- there are none. But I did think at the time that it was great that NJ...

The ARC tracks would have been on the south side of the NEC so they might have crossed the landfill slightly. Under ARC part of the SEC station would have been demolished so that the new ROW could have been pretty much right next to the existing one. I think that grading on the other side of the sta...

NJT must have been reading my mind... one of the sets of stairs down to the island platform is being replaced this week. I'm guessing both sets will be replaced eventually. Regarding the High Street bridge, that was redone a couple of years ago as was the Morristown line railroad bridge over Passaic...

Yes, both bridges were replaced in the 90's I think and you can't see over the walls. The station was redone sometime in the 80's if I remember correctly. It's pretty heavily trafficked and probably could use another spruce-up but doubt that's in the cards. The Springfield Avenue bridge just west of...

If you haven't seen the station in 40+ years, it's a bit different. The walkway you recall was demolished and replaced with a completely glass-enclosed one a couple of decades back when they also rebuilt and raised the platforms. But yes to your point you can stand in the waiting area and see everyt...

All of the answers may depend on the time of day, the other traffic or whatever special conditions may occur but generally... A couple of things: 1) ARC was actually designed and construction was underway so the map of it is more accurate I would say than the Gateway one. 2) The ARC tunnel mouth on the Jersey side is probably 300 feet south of the existing tunnel mouth and the land acquisition and prep work are done so the...

Nice Map. Interesting map but seems a little inaccurate. I'm pretty sure both ARC and Gateway would have used the same tunnel mouth in NJ. Also, the were also going to have the same ROW between SEC and the tunnel mouth. ARC was not going to use the existing tunnel mouth. It's tunnel would have star...
