Otto, I don't think that the OC steam website is being kept up to date. The last update they had was about a year ago. Additionally, the Yahoo group set up by the OC Steam program has also basically disbanded and is a breeding ground for spam. There are pictures of OC owner Jerry Jacobson at the VMT with their president standing in front of the engine and shaking hands so it sounds like a done deal to me.

Oh, I don't doubt they bought the engine... but it seems like a waste for a railroad that had such a good public relations machine, they should really keep their web site up to date. Hauling freight and paying the bills is important, hopefully the steam program will go public again soon! How great to see another Berk in steam!
From a post at the VFRD (Virginia RailFan Discussion) Yahoo Group, the NKP 763 is scheduled to be moved today (Tuesday, July 17th) from the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, VA to the East End shops, where work will need to be done on a couple of axles before the locomotive can be moved to Ohio. Reportedly this will be an all day event, made necessary by other equipment at the museum which will need to be moved and rearranged when the 763 departs.

According to the VFRD, the move has been delayed one week and is now tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 24th with Wednesday the 25th being a backup date.

She will be rebuilt to working order and used in excursions. The OC does not run their own excursions anymore due to insurance and liability issues, but runs steam excursions for others. And runs some on freight trains too now and then.
