They showed the damage to the bridge on the news and there was no way a train was going to cause it to collapse. Best guess is they stopped the trains to make it safer and faster for the crews inspecting and repairing the damaged steel.

If the bridge was that damaged, the bridge would have had to been brought down and rebuilt at least in part.
