Hi;
I have been hearing and reading from various sources over the past year or so that CSX was planning to or has already purchased some or all of the NYS&W track and facilities in New Jersey.
Now, looking at the CSX system map on their web site, I see that indeed CSX does own much, if not all of the track in Little Ferry and Ridgefield Park.
Can anyone give me more info on this?

Thanks

The NYS&W is still just that, the NYS&W. It is an independent company and a subsidiary of the Delaware Otsego Corporaton, CSX(as well as NS) has one seat on the Board of directors, and does not control operations. That said, there is an intermodal yard in Little Ferry, NJ(Technically Ridgefield) that is property of CSXI. It is switched out by NYS&W crews. At Present the following CSX traffic enter and leave this terminal(via crossovers to CSX at each end of the yard): Q153 and Q169 originate there(both going north on CSX), Q157 picks up cars on Saturday evening(formerly this was the Q161). CSX Q108 terminates at CSXI Little Ferry, and Q162 drops off cars enroute to its own terminus of Port Newark, NJ. The NYS&W has two "run thru" tracks parallel to the intermodal yard, and there are 4 tracks within the Little Ferry yard that are used for loading and unloading intermodal cars, and these tracks vary in their lengths. Under current agreements, all switching and handling of CSX trains while on NYS&W property are handled by NYS&W crews.

Thanks for the good info. I've been hearing trains going into and out of the Little Ferry yard on the CSX River Line channel.
Too bad we don't get any NYS&W power on the River Line, although I suppose it is possible that a stray will wind up in a consist of one of the CSX trains originating there.

Also, CSX Q-118 from Chicago to South Kearny, makes drop offs daily there.

rcbsd45.... Thanks for the update. Was wondering if you or anyone else knows of other trains that may have changed on the River line and Northern New Jersey area? Any changes for the Q-400's, K trains, etc?
