Has Valley transitioned over to JCC yet; I think it was the final tower slated to change over?

Valley is still free of JCC and at the moment no timetable to go up. Lead is still standing, as is Brook and Westside. At some point we'll also pick up Mid-day Yard and GCC.

GCC is Grand Central Control. It is located in the LIRR terminal inside Grand Central. There is a backup location located near some of the retail space, but most LIRR facilities are by the 47th Street exit. This will include Ticket Office, Lost and Found, Crew Facilities, GCC, Stationmaster, etc...

Depends on who makes the decision. The bridge can be modified to be operated remotely. It can be operated on a regular schedule if the Coast Guard permits that. But the bridge is problematic. The reality is that without someone nearby it will be extremely unreliable. The railroad could abolish the operator, but would probably necessitate three tours of signal maintainers.

Since this rail line is rather busy suspect that the bridge will be manned. Remember that Brightline is having their FEC draw bridges manned from being remotely operated by FEC dispatchers. That appears to be so the bridges do not have to be open for longer times when remote. Now at times late night maybe they might be remoted???

When I was in FtLauderdale the remote bridge over the New river had a sign that warned of closing bridge in 10 minutes. Sign then countrd down to zerp AIR. Then bridge closed and it was ~ 5 - 7 minutes before FEC freight cossed briidge. Any one have coast guard instructions to boats for any of these bridges?

From the Coast Guard:

"The Wreck Lead Railroad Bridge across Reynolds Channel at mile 4.4, New York, has a vertical clearance in the closed position of 3 feet at mean high water and 7 feet at mean low water. The bridge opens on signal as required by 33 CFR 117.799."

While 33 CFR 117.799 relieves virtually every bridge and bridge owner between East Rockaway and Shinnecock Inlet from "opening on signal," The LIRR's Wreck Lead Bridge is excluded from this relief and must open as required by the general requirements of Part 117 Subpart A, on signal by anyone promptly and without unnecessary delay.
