Would there be any point with specifying a future M8 order to be 12.5kV, 3rd Rail and no ACSES - basically a new M6, with those sent to operate in MN territory allowing 25kV units to be sent to the Shoreline? Or are there too few cost savings in that to justify a subfleet?
More M8s In Service (effective May 11, 2014)
We are operating more M8s than old equipment (M2/M4/M6) on the New Haven Line. Customers have the opportunity to ride one or more of the 1190 M8 weekly trains (195 on Mondays-Friday, 109 on Saturdays and 107 on Sundays).
The new M8 trains represent 87% of total weekday New Haven Main Line service (Monday-Friday), 92% of Saturday service and 90% of Sunday service.
