Pan Am... more confused...

I was sent a link to this page, http://www.livingatnorthpoint.com/team.html, and am now even more confused...

Guilford seems intent on rebranding the railroad as Pan Am. Why, well, who knows what moves them...

Considering all the negative things that people associate with the name "Guilford Rail System" -- it makes sense that they'd want to change to something that doesn't have as much negativity attached to it.

But don't you think the text is a bit odd? Am I the only one?

Nothing can be considered odd when it comes to Guilford. Everything they do defies logic in one way or another.

Probably playing a name game so they can try to break the union.

Interesting document. That condo sales literature states that Pan Am is the "owner" of the railroad, which unless there has recently been a corporate reshuffling would not be the case... the Boston & Maine and Maine Central corporations were the owners on paper, and both in turn were of course wholly owned by Guilford Transportation Industries. GTI also owns Pan Am, making the airline and the railroad siblings rather than parent and child, I guess.

To rename a corporation you have to file papers with the secretary of state in the state in which it's incorporated, and such documents are public records. Any lawyers want to check whether GTI has done that recently? It could also be that the phase is just real estate marketing buzz.
