NS 2496

As i was checking this locomotive out on rrpicturearchives i noticed that it had two different conrail paint jobs with NS anyone know anything about that?

NS EMD GP38's 2908, 2910, 2919, 2943 and 2946 were completely repainted in Conrail Quality blue with NS road numbers (without patches) for assignment to the Conrail Shared Assets areas. This was done not long after the Conrail takeover.

NS 2946, show in the linked photos, was retired by NS in November of 2003. It was rebuilt by NS as GP38-2 5658 in September 2006.

But theres a picture of a regular gp 38 NS 2496 painted in regular conrail paint with a ns patch in 2005

The date is when the photo was added to that online database, not the date it was actually taken.
