They stopped doing the 12 car set thing a long time ago.
Are they using 10 car sets now? How many passengers do they carry?

Thanks

Average of 130-135 people per car (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardie ... evel_Coach" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), so I'm sure you can do that rest of the math :P

Thanks,

Also, do we know how MARC is able to have their multi levels certified for 125MPH and NJT isn't (even though ALP46A is certified to 125MPH)?

ALP46As are not certified for 125mph. They are geared for it, thats it. Same with the ALP45. The old ALP46 is still geared for 100mph.

Why do we even have this thread still open if all of the cars, including the new ones are delivered?

Are they still mulling the last un-exercised 25-car option, or dangling that as bait for somebody else to pick up a la the 54 options they pawned off on MARC?

Excellent idea. We'll bring it up at the next board meeting.
We could let them ride the rods too.

Where's the like button for this video? It gave me a good laugh. :-)

How about drivers riding outside the train to keep cool? Many South African locos had swing seats, as illustrated in this photo from around 1930.

Why not have them certified for the high speed if they paid for the higher speed? There is room to get up to it between Trenton and new Brunswick no?

No cars are certified for that speed and none of their cab signaling equipment is set up to go over 100 right now though that could be changed probably with expensive software mods.

Something that never occurred to me, thanks for the insight. Maybe once amtrak starts running 160 threw hear NJT will have incentive to crank it up to not foul the track as badly.

The time savings as has been mentioned here before, is negligible.

I'd just be happy if they consistently did 100. (Are the ML-IIs still restricted to 90?) And get those 80 mph Arrow III's replaced with something modern already!
