Metra F40C 611/614 Status

Rode train 2236 yesterday (16 August 2010) with F40C 611. Train stopped and HEP malfunctioned around one of the stations closer to Chicago (Galewood?). Trip resumed after a few minutes with the lights off, which later came back on as the train aproached Chicago.

I caught 611 yesterday working the outbound rush. Here's a shot of it on approach to CUS for a quick turn into revenue service.

That's the trouble with inbound trains when the HEP cuts out. The engineer is not in the engine to restart it, so the conductor has to make his/her way back there to do it.

There is a reset button in the control car for the HEP, but ig the T.L.C. has to be bypassed then somebody has to go to the engine.

Thanks bones, I made a bad assumption based on a trip where the power was off for a while and the head-end conductor told us his counterpart had to climb into the engine to reset it.

Had 614 on 2227 this evening (08/30/2010). Passed 611 at Western Ave. waiting to shove its train into CUS.

Had 611 on 2227 on Wednesday (09/01/2010).

614 was on 2227 last night (09/07/2010).

611 was on 2227 last night (09/08/2010).

614 was on 2227 last night (09/15/2010).

Had 614 on 2220 yesterday morning (09/20/2010).

611 was on 2227 last night (09/21/2010).

Seems Western Ave. keeps the C's on the same trains day after day.. wonder why.

looks like theyre being tag teamed so if one of em craps the bed mechanically theyll still have the other close by..

I don't see that. They are out and about just like the other locomotives.
