Riding my bike down Main St., crossing West Wyoming Ave. in Melrose, I noticed some rail in a gap in the asphalt. This is about 100 yards East of the CR. Was there ever trolley service along what is now Main St.?

There sure was. The Boston & Northern/Bay State/Eastern Mass. conducted extensive operations in Melrose, big enough to have a Melrose Division. If you want more info, why not go to Fallen Flags, Trolley section and repeat the question. You'll probably get lots of info.

By the way, the Melrose Division was probably the first Eastern Mass. division to go all bus en masse. About 1931.
