From reading the MBCR timetable, the max on the Eastern Route Main (NewburyPort Line) is 70MPH.

Gloucester has a max of 65MPH

Fitchburg has a max of 60MPH

Lowell Line has a max of 70MPH on Track #1 and a 60MPH max on Track #2.

Haverhill Line has a max speed of 60MPH.

Wildcat Branch has a max of 25MPH.

* All speeds above are the highest maximum speeds authorized, and each line has many sections where the max authorized speeds are lower speeds than listed *

Amtrak's employee timetables have always shown the MBTA F40's as having a 110MPH maximum authorized speed with a train.

Just stating from what I've read in Trains mag. in articles, in which max. speed for F40s(at least for Amtrak) was 103 mph and which was stated to be factory standard for F40s. Gear ratio options may have changed since first F40s came out.

There was also an option for 83mph gearing, and I was once told that is the gear ratio the MBTA's F40s have.
