Hi Folks,

I have seen pics of Thrall 86-foot auto parts double-door boxcars formally owned by Santa Fe and acquired by Conrail, painted in the red ATSF Shock Control scheme with patched CR reporting marks and the Santa Fe name whited-out in the target herald. CR 239298 is one. Does anyone know if Conrail also acquired ex-ATSF Pullman-Standard auto parts boxcars that also were quick-stenciled in the same manner? If so, does anyone have a photo? Thanks.

Conrail apparently bought a number of surplus Santa Fe cars, I took some pictures years ago of a recently painted, fairly well used coal hopper and noticed later it had the former number stencilled at the upper right with the initials ATSF next to it. All you need is that, one of those boxcars, and tack on one of the cabooses Penn Central bought and converted to the world's ugliest bay-windows.
