I was just curious...is Guilford the only railroad that still handles its own derailments? It seems like just about every other railroad uses RJ Corman or some other outside contractor. Do any other railroads like CSX or Cp still maintain a "big hook?" Most derailments you see nowadays seldom employ these beasts. Thanks!

The Alaska Railroad still has a wreck crane. My mother owns a cabin in Alaska and she sent me a few photos last summer, including a couple of photos with a caboose and a wreck crane. Both appear to be well-maintained and fully operable.
