Now if CT would stop studying system expansion and actually start doing it! Oh, to dream what this may portend.....

Not much they can do until the M8s arrive. Hopefully the M8s will arrive close to schedule and be trouble free. And hopefully I'll win the next 10 Powerball jackpots!!!

Yep, the same state where the Danbury branch has been studied umpteen times by how many different agencies and business groups. :(

The same state that studied New London service without including Worcester. :(

The same state that opened two casinos without rail service even though it was readily nearby. :(

The same state that will probably be forced to open a casino in Bridgeport will probably open it without a shuttle service. :(

The same state that subsidizes bus shuttles to Harlem line stations rather than improve their own branch. :(

Meanwhile, in Albany, they're about to start a demonstration project for commuter rail service from Saratago that will cost millions but not attract the same ridership. Think CT can get in on that demo action? Maybe they can buy some used turboliners?

My guess and my hope, is that the answer to my question is 'no' but I wonder if they are counting people transferring on/off the New Canaan branch as "people getting on trains" or "people getting off trains" at Stamford. The wording of the article is ambiguous in any case:

"Last year, 4,200 people a day got off the train in Stamford compared with 2,990 who boarded in Stamford."

If my guess is right - and probably even if it's not - then that certainly is surprising (but believable).

And how are people making round-trips counted? Sounds like a sloppy journalist to me.
